Officially, entering the Green Card Lottery is completely free.
According to the U.S. Department of State, “There is no fee to enter the Diversity Visa Lottery.”
Please note:
Any payment made to BRBF Immigration covers consulting, form preparation, and lottery result tracking services— not the official lottery entry itself.
If you are selected in the lottery, you’ll be required to pay a $330 immigrant visa fee per applicant during the consular interview stage.
This fee only applies to those who have been officially selected and scheduled for an interview.
Recently, two separate proposals regarding lottery entry fees have been introduced:
The U.S. Department of State has suggested a $1 symbolic registration fee to discourage fraudulent entries.
Meanwhile, a Congressional bill proposes a much higher $250 registration fee per applicant.
If the $250 fee becomes law, participation from low-income countries could significantly decrease.
While neither proposal has been finalized yet, the new regulation could take effect starting with the DV-2027 program.
Each fiscal year has a fixed registration period.
For example, DV-2026 applications were accepted between October 2 and November 7, 2024.
According to U.S. immigration law, all Diversity Visas must be issued by September 30 of the fiscal year.
Any unused visas after that date automatically expire.
This means delays caused by:
Late document submissions,
Postponed interview appointments, or
Incomplete or incorrect paperwork
can result in the loss of your eligibility.
